Remembering Our Service Men and Women

April 25, 2026

Lest We Forget

Today we spend time honouring the service and sacrifice of our brave men and women who have served our country. At Tura Beach Country Club, we pause to remember those who gave so much for our freedom and way of life.

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.”

These powerful words remind us of the enduring legacy of those who served. Today is a day for reflection, gratitude, and remembrance of the sacrifices made by our service men and women throughout history.

Flanders Fields

We invite you to take a moment to read ‘Flanders Fields’, a beautiful poem written by Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae on May 3, 1915, in Ypres, Belgium, following the funeral of his friend, Lieutenant Alexis Helmer. Inspired by the poppies blooming amid graves, the poem became a major symbol of WWI remembrance and continues to move us today.

However you choose to commemorate this important day, we hope you’ll take time to remember and reflect on the service and sacrifice of those who have protected our nation. Please stay safe today.

The club is open normal trading hours for those who wish to gather with family and friends in remembrance.

Lest we forget.
